Subject: plumbing valves
Question: I am installing valves in an underground pipe system (cattle waterers). I am trying to find the type of valves commonly used in the main line leading to the house, which are turned on/off with what I call a "churchkey", long T-handled tool with a U-shaped seat that fits over the valve. What are the valves called, and do you know of a supplier? Lowes/Home Depot, no go. Thanks.
Answer: HELLO If you wish I can order some and have delivered to you. You can e-mail me at sales@espmetro(dot)com, We call then corporation cocks, used in a standard water service, they also make something in same order for lawn irrigation system. You could install a standard ball valve remove handle and have your own little T handle made. Depending on depth. Just a thought. DB www.espmetro.com www.dispatcherbob.com

Subject: Hole in pipe behind toleit in wall leaking extremly
Question: We notice water getting all over the bathroom floor and as we began to investigate we realized there is a small perfectly round hole about 1/2-3/4 of an inch in a metal pipe behind our toilet in the wall. The pipe is about maybe 3-4 inches in diameter. It was leaking, we THINK from the wash machine but we really have no idea whats wrong. I am a novice in plumbing and anything that has to deal with it. Is there something we could put in the pipe. Do you know if something is made to go in the pipe that might be missing. The tub is backed up we don't know if it has anything to deal with our pipe because clear water was coming from the pipe but the tub water was brown. We need an answer ASAP because the water is going into the hallway onto the carpet.
Answer: Hello Sounds like part of your stack is missing or rotted away, I would call a plumber and have him assess problem, If you can take some pics to me I will gladly look at and see if something is missing. Most times repairs of this type a band aid fix does not last very long. If it is waste water then you need to repair promptly.Let me know DB www.espmetro.com www.dispatcherbob.com

Subject: plumbing re: bathroom tub/toilet backing up
Question: Hi, I have a levit slab house, over 50 years old, trees on front yard in front of main sewer line on yard and bathroom. The upstairs which is a half bathroom, the toilet has been sounding like it's filling up a bit and now the downstairs main bathroom's toilet's water was low. I flushed it after cleaning it, only to see that it was starting to overflow. I immediately started to plunge it, but it wouldn't suck down and clear whatever was making it overflow. I then look over to the tub(main bathroom) and toilet water from toilet w/paper backed up into the tub blue toilet tidy bowl and all! Even when I flush the upstairs toilet, and come downstairs I see the water bubbling up into the bathtub. Running water in the bathroom sink in main bathroom even starts to make water come up into the tub. What is causing this backup. This happened a few years ago, and I remember the plumber telling me that the roots from the trees on front yard backed into sewer line. Can this have happened again? Once fixed how do I prevent this again? Thank you Lisa Zeankowski
Answer: Hello When they clean the sewer, they need to camera line and make sure all roots are gone or at least most of them then annually apply root-x , We sell on our site. I have been keeping track of ones we have cleaned and go back and video tape from time to time the stuff works. Can and should be applied only after a cleaning the roots are cut and exposed. DB Hope this helps you. www.espmetro.com www.dry-it-up.com

Subject: wirsbo piping
Question: I had a plumber install A half bath in my basement awhile back and he used wirsbo piping. Now that I am installing a shower I was wondering if I had to use the expansion fittings (which require a special tool) or could I use regular compression fittings?
Answer: HELLO Not a good idea to use compression fittings on worsbo, pex or any plastic piping, it might hold for awhile, but I do not recommend. Most companies do not like the interchanging from even manufacturer to manufacturer as they will not work. DB www.espmetro.com www.dispatcherbob.com
