Subject: water to the bathroom differs
Question: Hello, I have a bathroom in my home that is on the other side of the house from the water heater. In this bathroom is a shower stall and a seperate bathtub. My issue is that in the bathtub I get hot water very quick and good pressure. In my shower stand-up stall I get weak pressure (this is a recent issue) and the hot water takes longer than normal to get to the shower. Keep in mind it has always taken a while to get warmed up, but now it is longer than normal and is combined with weak pressure. Are the two linked or seperate issues? It is very odd because the tub (in this same bathroom) gets great pressure and hot water faster (which it allways has). To sum up what could be the reason for the hot water quicker to the tub than shower and what could be the reason for my low pressure in the shower? Thank you.
Answer: Is it a single handle faucet? If so you might just need to rebuild faucet.
Is the tub also a single handle? Some or most single handle have a cartridge with screen or small openings in and lime up, sometimes they just tend to let water circulate into cold line and could be why one gets hot faster, Another issue with pressure is shower head, they also lime up.Some shower heads people put a hand held shower with a shut off on and do not shut off at the shut off but rather at the handle this will also cause it to circulate. hope this sheds some light let me know if I can be of further assistance

Subject: well water pressure
Question: I have a well pump, pressure switch (38psi closes to 58 psi opens) pressure tank (bladder pressure set to 36 psi with no system pressure on the tank)and a 0-100 psi pressure gauge to monitor pressure.
What I have observed. We will be running water and at 38 psi the contacts close and half the time the pressure increases as expected. the other half the pressure switch closes and the water stops flowing and the pressure slowly drops to zero. After 1-2 minutes the water starts to flow and the pressure builds to 58 psi and then the contacts open the the pressure stops going up.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thank, Bill
Answer: Your tank needs some attention the pressure in tank is supposed to be set same as turn on, so I would suggest you shut off power to pump run water to empty, check pressure in tank with no water in tank just see if the pressure is set, usually tire gauge ( I say that because it sounds like you are just going by a gauge on well)If pressure is higher than turn on it can affect off/on cycle.

Subject: Leaky faucet in the kitchen
Question: Hi Thanks for being available to help us dummies when it comes to plumbing! I have a faucet in my kitchen that is not the main faucet, it was added to provide hardwater after the softwater system was installed back in the 70s. It is old and had a slow drip. I tried repairing the drip with a new washer and only made it worse. It is now a constant running stream. What would you suggest I do to stop the stream of water?
Thanks for your kind help,
Darrell
Answer: Washers do not always solve the problem if you do not change the seat if it has an removable one, they usually wreck a new washer right away,we try to stay away from rebuilding those and just install a new one, most hardwares have, let me know if I can help further.
